    Update: Updated COVID-19 Travel Requirements

Protect your family and ours by stopping the spread. Passengers should wear a mask or cloth face covering on all CTrail Hartford Line and Amtrak trains, and at CTrail stations. And remember, public transportation is for essential travel only. Do your part to protect our #heroesmovingheroes and we’ll do ours to keep CT moving safely during this coronavirus emergency.

All passengers are requested to wear a face mask or face covering at all times whenever a six-foot distance from other people cannot be safely maintained on CTrail Hartford Line and Amtrak trains, any other public transportation service in Connecticut, and within any semi-enclosed transit stop, waiting area, or CTrail station.

This Order is in addition to the requirement that public transportation is to be used for essential travel only such as getting to and from work or for procuring essential needs. Customers who feel sick should not use public transportation.

Nothing in this order shall require the use of a mask or cloth face covering by anyone for whom doing so would be contrary to his or her health or safety because of a medical condition, a child in a child care setting, anyone under the age of 2 years, or an older child if the parent, guardian or person responsible for the child is unable to place the mask safely on the child’s face. If a person declines to wear a mask or face covering because of a medical condition as described above, such person shall not be required to produce medical documentation verifying the stated condition.

Update: CTDOT Taking Coronavirus (COVID-19) Precautions for Public Transportation

At CTrail, the safety of our customers and employees is of the highest importance. We are taking actions based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health experts. These actions, which began last week, are being conducted for all CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and New Haven Line (Metro-North) commuter rail services. These measures include:

    • Nightly sanitizing of all trains including an interior wipe down of high contact surfaces using cleaning and disinfection protocols from the CDC
    • Station operators have increased cleaning of stations using CDC-recommended cleaning products and methods
    • At our busiest stations, Stamford, Bridgeport and New Haven, touchpoints such as door handles, escalator handrails, and elevator buttons are being wiped down multiple times each day

The State of Connecticut is taking various actions to respond to the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). CTrail is also staying in constant communication with state and federal emergency management agencies to adjust our protocols, if necessary.
